The Ban reason is a field in a Player's Account that can be used to store a more or less descriptive text about the player. Usually, it is used to point out why a player is Banned: Most of it is displayed to the banned player on (futile) attempts to login.
Just as there are Global and Local bans, there are global and local ban reasons. The global ban reason is shown along with the Server list instead of other account state information, while a local one is only displayed after a player tries to connect to the Playerworld in question.
A little known feature of the ban reason is that if it contains a line consisting merely of three dashes ("---"), it and all text below it will not be displayed to the player on login.
