GrowlZ is a moderately active member of Graal's community and its staff. He enjoys referring to himself in the third person and relishes any opportunity to do so. He can be friendly when he deems it necessary, but is often decried as "too formal" by your average player. He wanted to type "overly formal" there, but caught himself just in time. He hopes that this illustrates his point.

Community

As a member of the Playerworld Administration Team, GrowlZ can usually be found on Graal somewhere. If you are particularly lucky, you may even find him idling merrily away on Graal2002 Debug and exchanging witty banter with co-workers. He also has a perfectly functional Graal Communication Center account, but only uses it to comment very occasionally. Secretly, this is because he fears that his opinions might be too hot to handle. He is a mid-level operator on the GScript IRC channel.

Development Areas

GrowlZ is talented with many web-oriented languages, and demonstrates a sound comprehension of XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. He is somewhat worryingly proficient with PHP, in which he invents new data structures on a regular basis, and eschews traditional database-like systems in favour of vast arrays. He was rather good with GScript for a while, but decided to retire from Graal development for the good of his sanity.

In "real" languages like C and C++, GrowlZ is exceedingly good at shifting bits and bytes and manipulating things behind-the-scenes, but can't even draw a window properly. Do not expect a GrowlZ-brand utility to look nice; it's command lines and unhelpful messages all the way, buddy.

He is in favour of Free Software (as defined by the FSF) when it suits him. For example, he makes and compiles all of his secret and proprietary binaries using the free Dev-C++ development environment, outfitted with the GNU Compiler Collection running under Microsoft Windows. He appreciates the self-contradictory nature of this position.

He does not use Ruby, Perl or Python, and has them all installed simply to act as a talking point.

Staff Positions

GrowlZ is presently global staff and serves as a member of the embattled Playerworld Administration Team. He was manager of Rudora for a while and worked as NAT Admin on Sanstrata back in the good old days of Graal prior to all this Trial Account and Ghost Mode mumbo-jumbo.

Of late, GrowlZ has taken up assisting Graal Classic with scripting and event co-ordination in its new NPCServer incarnation. His boss has no objection to this, so please try to avoid asking "I thought global staff weren't allowed to work on a playerworld?"/"PWA can't work on PWs"/"I'm telling Spark" etc. Okay? Thank you.

He will probably be able to understand you if you speak in French, but will probably not be able to offer any kind of coherent response besides "Je comprends. Un moment, s'il vous plait." It is worth noting that GrowlZ is not afraid to block idiots on any or all of his messaging systems. Don't be an idiot.
