Tortoise Camrhyne is a Delterian legend and is moderately infamous in Graalian History. He is the leader of the guild Veracity, one of the most prominent guilds of modern-day Graal. He possesses a minor staff position on Delteria and is considered by most players to be from that server. In actuality, Tortoise has played since v1.28 and has resided on virtually every server at some point in time, the most notable of which are Lostworld, Engima Graal, Bravo Online, Unholy Nation, and, of course, Delteria.
Community
Unless provoked by Global Administrators, Tortoise avoids the Graal Communication Center and those that inhabit it. However, he is very active in the communities which he is immediately involved in. In the mainstream Graal community he is noted primarily for the changes he made on Delteria and the effects his guild has had on the game at large.
Tortoise considers himself widely known, but not popular. His dealings are typically irrelevant to the game at large, but everyone is aware of who he is, what he has done, and what he is doing now. Many people do not like him for various reasons, the most popular of which is probably deleting Charm's LiveJournal and banishing her from Graal.
Tortoise has often had to deal with the global administrators. Tortoise was present when Nemesis went corrupt and deleted nearly every account from the database. Interestingly enough, Tortoise was spared from deletion and he was briefly accused of hijacking Nemesis's account. He was also accused of deleting the playerworlds Lostworld and Delteria, although a detailed analysis of the events proved he was involved in neither. Tortoise is often accused of creating trainers and hacks for Graal, and is hounded by HoudiniMan and Calani, being banned frequently. These bans are often unfair and do not stick, leading Tortoise to create a "Ban Counter" which is occasionally found in his profile. This number is three digits long, something Tortoise is very proud of.
History
Tortoise began playing Graal after being introduced to it by his real life friend Diefool. As he ran on a 166MHz e-Machine for his first two years of playing, he did very little other than chat with people. He often joined in on toall conversations with topics ranging from philosophy to pot. He joined (The Flames) in his Lostworld days, but later quit.
Tortoise immediately began sparring as soon has he bought a superior computer which he still uses today, a 1.4GHz Pentium IV computer. His technique was loosely based off of Sky Blazer's when he was in his prime. Tortoise became a very good sparrer and travelled from server to server, eventually choosing to stay on Enigma Graal when he met his old Lostworld friend, Lexie. Tortoise established himself as both a skilled PKer and sparrer and rejoined (The Flames), rising to the rank of recruiter. When the guild disbanded, Tortoise established his own guild, Veracity.
After Engima Graal died, Tortoise and his guild moved to Delteria, where they participated in the MHX/TNR wars, which Tortoise refers to as the "Sovereign War." Tortoise is notorious on Delteria for winning these wars, despite being a third party which was severely outmanned. It is also from these wars that the aura radiated head style is derived; Tortoise defeated Zeromus Hunter in their final battle wearing his signature pink hair. It is interesting to note how this parallels the Pachukite style which was seen earlier in Graalian History.
Tortoise and his guild have participated in other battles since the Sovereign War, though none are as well-known as that one. He typically plays Delteria and N-Pulse, sparring occasionally and PKing rarely. Those who don't consider him a hacker regard him as a superior sparrer, although not quite as excellent as Brett - although some believe them to be the same person. His guild has since expanded to Ragnarok Online and City of Heroes and is moderately successful in each.
Tortoise won the Graalympics for Delteria in 2004 by defeating Kurse of Unholy Nation. He also is the only person to have won every server championship in one week. He is criticized by more "traditional" sparrers for this because they cite that a sparrer with a formless or undefined style could not have possibly done this without hacking. Even so, no Admin has ever verified that Tortoise hacked in any of these battles. Tortoise also played the Graalympics in 2003, suffering a round three loss to ShadowLust, who lost to NeoJenova in the finals.
Development/Staff
Tortoise's development background is very misleading. It is believed by many that Tortoise is incapable of Level, NPC, Graphic, or Hack/Trainer Development; experiences with him sometimes leave people believing otherwise, especially in the case of hacks. Tortoise has had both gscript and ggraphics guildtags, and many people have accused him of trainer development. In the development world he is perhaps most famous for allegedly being the creator of the Siva Dreamer hack, the most powerful trainer in v2.22. Tortoise denys that he created any trainer and makes no official statement on his other abilities. Obviously, only he knows for sure.
Tortoise typically has a standard-level staff position on Delteria at any given time and some believe he is a secret member of Team Intelligence. He has openly stated he is unaffiliated with the Anti-Graal hacking effort and finds it incredibly stupid.
