A spar zone is designated in a level via issparringzone; and resignated via nosparringzone;. As a sparring zone, players within it do not gain or lose AP), and kills and deaths modify their Spar Rating. Also, if a player's AP is 100, it is temporarily reduced to 99 for purposes of fair sparring.
